• Intervention 4: Promote the use of appropriate and affordable waste disposal methods

    Actions: 

    • Provide training to households and communities on waste segregation at the source, composting, and recycling techniques.
    • Work with local artisans, engineers, and communities to design and construct affordable waste disposal facilities that meet local needs.
    • Implement incentive programs that encourage households and businesses to adopt proper waste disposal methods.

Intervention 1: Enhance Nutrition Improvement Initiatives Actions:
  • Facilitate the establishment of fruits, vegetables, and herbs gardens at the community and household levels to improve nutritional intake and food security.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with local and international food producers and manufacturers of essential nutritional supplements to enhance the availability, accessibility, and adoption of fortified foods and dietary supplements within the community.

Intervention 2: Comprehensive Hygiene Promotion Campaign

  • Conduct hygiene promotion campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of handwashing with soap, proper sanitation practices, and safe food handling.
  • Raise awareness about the importance of safe and hygienic sanitation practices and the health benefits of proper latrine and toilet use.
  • Provide technical support and training to households on the construction and maintenance of improved latrines, toilets, and sanitation facilities.
  • Implement community-led initiatives, such as “clean village” competitions, to motivate collective action
Intervention 3: Promote and support rain water harvesting and water purification systems or point-of-use water treatment devices to improve water quality and remove contaminants. Actions: 
    • Conduct educational campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of safe water, the benefits of rainwater harvesting, and the need for water purification to prevent waterborne diseases.
    • Provide hands-on training to households and community groups on how to install and maintain rainwater harvesting systems.
    • Partner with local suppliers and NGOs to distribute point-of-use water treatment devices.
    • Research and promote simple, cost-effective designs for rainwater harvesting, such as underground storage tanks or rain barrels made from locally available materials.
  •  Mobilise and facilitate the installation of centralized water harvesting and purification systems in areas where access to clean water is limited serving multiple households.
